The Bootstrap team has released Bootstrap 4, a stable version of the popular open source toolkit for developing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript applications. Bootstrap 4 is released after years of research and development and six alpha & three beta releases.

In an official blog, the bootstrap team stated,

“Since our last beta, we’ve been hard at work stabilizing a few key pieces of our CSS, polishing our documentation, adding some extra surprises, and planning for our follow-up releases. We still have some kinks to iron out, but nothing’s going to stop us from shipping a stable release.”

If you are wondering what this new version incorporates, you can go through the documentation, however, here is a sneak peek.

  • Print styles and utility classes have been updated. Print display utilities also include a whole slew of new display values to match our standard display utilities.
  • Additive border utilities have been added. Now it’s easier to quickly add all borders or a subset of borders to your components.
  • The $spacers and $sizes Sass maps have been updated to allow more customization.
  • Added documentation to the Theming docs.
  • Added responsive .order-0 and .order-last classes for more control over the flexbox grid.
  • Improvements to reusing and extending variables and general code cleanup.
  • Additionally, the Bootstrap team has removed a couple outdated examples, added brand new ones, and overhauled nearly every example.
