At Build 2017 conference, Microsoft announced a new Timeline feature for
Windows 10. This feature is somewhat similar to Apple's continuity feature in iOS and macOS but it allows users to switch between multiple devices which not only include Windows based gadgets but iOS and Android phones too.

The Timeline view has been built into the Task View that already functions in Windows 10. In Timeline view, you can get the overview of all the apps running currently across different devices. Microsoft has defined the functionality of this new features as “pick up where you left off”.
Integration of Cortana has made it more powerful because now you can use some Microsoft apps on the devices based on other operating systems. Windows 10 Timeline enables the users to move from one machine to another device really fast.

First for Microsoft Edge sessions and now for Windows 10 devices, Cortana has played big role in bringing this feature to life. In the day 2 Keynote, the company indicates that it is planning to leverage Cortana with Timeline to prompt Windows 10 users to pick up sessions intelligently.
For this feature to work perfectly, and for enabling users to pick the sessions intelligently, Microsoft is asking developers to register their apps in Microsoft Graph so that they can roam content and sessions over to mobile devices with extreme ease.
