The latest version of one of the most popular open source cross-platform video converters, HandBrake 1.0.0, has been released.

The company suggests that before you make an update, it is important for you to ensure that there is currently no ongoing or pending encodes in the queue. If you have been using any older version, then it is really important for you to make note of any custom presets which you have created, as they might not be at all compatible with the latest versions.
The following are the release highlights, as per the official blog:
- The devices with Intel Skylake or newer CPU, will get the new Intel QuickSync video H.265/HEVC encoder.
- The size of the Windows installer has been reduced.
- Windows users can pause and resume encoding jobs.
- There is no command line interface included with the Windows installer, in this new version.
- DirectX Video Acceleration (DVXA) hardware accelerated video decoding has been removed because of the issues it was creating.
- Updated the reference of third-party libraries used by HandBrake.
- Support for Ultra HD / 4K color pass through.
- New Auto anamorphic mode has been introduced that maximizes the storage resolution along with replacing the strict anamorphic mode.
- Assembly optimization has improved the filter performance by up to 10%, and 264x encoder performance by up to 10% for faster presets.
