US, Japan, South Korea Officials Brainstorm Steps to Counter North Korea Cyberthreats

Officials from the United States, Japan, and South Korea met virtually on Wednesday to discuss ways to counter cyberthreats from North Korea.The meeting was held as part of the trilateral Cyber Security Working Group, which was established in 2015 to promote cooperation on cybersecurity issues.The officials discussed a range of topics, including North Korea's cyber capabilities, its use of cyberattacks to target other countries, and ways to strengthen defenses against these threats.The meeting comes amid growing concerns about North Korea's cyber capabilities. In recent years, North Korea has been linked to a number of high-profile cyberattacks, including the 2014 hack of Sony Pictures and the 2017 WannaCry ransomware attack.The United States, Japan, and South Korea are all potential targets for North Korean cyberattacks. The three countries have been working together to strengthen their defenses against these threats, and the Cyber Security Working Group is an important part of this effort.The meeting was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
