Hello guys! First, I would just want to congratulate all you Visual Studio lovers, because now, you can use Visual Studio on Macintosh devices also. Finally, Microsoft has launched Visual Studio for Mac at Build 2017 and you can download it from the Microsoft Visual Studio Official site.
After clicking on the Download button, you’ll get Visual Studio installer in your downloads folder and also, you’ll get a dialog to get started with Xamarin University free trial of 60 days.
So now, you will get “visualstudioInstaller.dmg” file.
Double click on this installer file to get started with installation process.
Then, it’ll ask for Internet. Just click on the Open button.
This will start checking requirements using your internet connection, so your system should be connected to the internet while the installation process is going on.
If you get the following window, just get the XCode. Since I don’t have XCode installed on my Mac already, I opted for it. Now, click on Continue.
Now, select what kind of development you want, such as Xamarin Form for Android or iOS, or .NET Core for Web Development.
I have selected .NET Core only because I want to work with Web Development using Visual Studio. But, you can select the feature as per your requirement. Now, just click on “Install” Button.
Now, your downloading is started.
And, it’s done.
Here, you can either start Visual Studio or quit this window. In my case, I have clicked "Start Visual Studio" to see the first look of Visual Studio on Mac.
Wow! here is the first look of Visual Studio on Mac. It's your turn now. All of you who were waiting to start development on Visual Studio along with Mac, can enjoy this great Microsoft product on Apple device.
The last thing - Get started. For starting a project, just click on "New Project" button and select "Project Type" and then, start developing with your innovation.
