O365 SharePoint 2013 Online Search Settings

Introduction

SharePoint 2013 Online is available with Office 365 Enterprise trial version and includes a wide variety of improvements and new features. In this article, we will see about how to create new search settings in SharePoint 2013 and how they improved in Office 365.

What is SharePoint Online?

Microsoft says, easily create team sites, lists, libraries and portals to discover, share, and collaborate on content with colleagues inside and outside your organization from any device. Use this page to configure how search behaves on this site.

The shared search box at the top of most pages will use these settings. Note- A change to these settings may take up to 30 minutes to take an effect.

All customizations were done, using standard SharePoint building blocks, which requires no code.

Create search settings in O365

Go to the search settings in Office 365 page and click search settings under search heading.

Enter a search center URL

When you've specified a search center, the search system displays a message to all the users, who are offering them the ability to try their search again from the search center.

Example- /SearchCenter/Pages or http://server/sites/SearchCenter/Pages

Which search results page should queries be sent to?

Custom results page URL's can be relative or absolute.

URL's can also include special tokens, such as {SearchCenterURL}. This token will be replaced by the value in the Search Center URL property. If the value in this property ever changes, any URL, using the token will update automatically.

Search Navigation allows the users to move quickly between search experiences listed in the navigation. Navigation is displayed in the Quick Launch control on the search pages and can also be shown as a dropdown menu from the search box.

We can change the search headers like Everything, People, Sites and Conversations.


Click Save button to save the New Search Settings in O365.
