Project Server 2013 Installation And Configuration

Prerequisite- Correctly installed and configured SharePoint Server 2013.

Note: My current SharePoint Farm is having Single-tier architecture which means everything is installed on a single Server.

Here is the process of installing and configuring the Project Server 2013. 

  1. Download Evaluation Package from Here.
  2. Mount the Image on the server where you want to install Project Server 2013.
  3. Click on Setup File.

  4. Enter KEY.
  5. Accept Term & Condition and click Continue.

  6. Click Install Now, Installation will begin.

  7. After Installation, Run Configuration Wizard window will open. Uncheck Run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard now and close the wizard.
  8. Install Project Server 2013 on every Web server and Application Server if you have more than one Application and Web server.
  9. After installing Project Server on every application server and web server which is part of the SharePoint Farm, Run Configuration Wizard on each server.

    Note - Don’t Run Configuration Wizard simultaneously but one by one.

    Run Product Configuration Wizard as Administrator.

  10. SharePoint Product Configuration Wizard window open Click Next,

  11. SharePoint Product Configuration Wizard window throws warning message Just Click Yes.

  12. In next window let it remain as  the default setting and click next.

  13. SharePoint will be configured, have patience and watch carefully what’s going to happen in 1-10 steps. Once Configure is Successful a window appears;  click finish.

    Now SharePoint Central Administration page will open.

  14. Now let’s check if Project Server is installed successfully or not,

    Go to -- > Central Administration -- > Upgrade and Migration -- >Click Check product and patch installation status.

Project Server runs as Service Application in SharePoint.

So let’s start Configure Project Server 2013 Application service.

  1. Start Project Server Service Instance on application server where you want to run Project Server 2013 Application Service.

    Go to Central Administration -- > System Settings -- > Manage services on Server (Under Server).

  2. Select the server where you want to deploy Project Server 2013 Application Service.

    And start Project Server Application Service.

  3. Now Create Project Server Application Service.

    Go to Application Management -- > Manage service application (Under Service Applications) -- > New -- > Project Server Service Application.

Fill the Particulars

Project Services application name: Daf Project Server Service Application.

You can use existing Application Pool or New Application Pool but make sure account users for Application Pool are registeredas managed accounts in SharePoint. I am using exiting Application Pool.

You can cross check whether Project Server Service Application  was successfully created or not by clicking Application Management -- > Manage service applications

Next Step is to Create Project Web App.

Go to Central Administration-- > Application Management -- > Manage service application -- > click on newly created Project Server Service Application.

Click on Create Project Web App Instance.

Note: You can use new web application or existing web Application. I am using existing one for test purposes.
