Only the right tools help you achieve that extra mileage in hunting a job. But the process, the job interviews tend to scare the hell out of us.

Quantifying the achievements is the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to appearing for an interview. Idea may be right but the presentation matters the most.

Surveys tell us, recruiters, largely, spend approximately six seconds on scanning a resume. Hence a resume overloaded with information has more chances of getting overlooked.

If the resume does not get selected then even the best probable employee does not get a chance to appear for the interview.

Career Expert Amanda Augustine says, “The key is to format the information in a way that makes it easy to scan and recognize your job goals and relevant qualifications,”

Key is to put forward your best foot. And getting the resume shortlisted is the biggest hurdle that a candidate needs to get past.

Here are some useful tips for your consideration:

  1. Help the recruiter by formatting your information in such a way that it identifies both your significant education and the   job objectives

  2. Utilize the resume space smartly and avoid obvious statements. According to Augustine an executive summary should be used instead of the fluffy statements. She says, "In approximately three to five sentences, explain what you're great at, most interested in, and how you can provide value to a prospective employer,".

  3. It would be wise to mention your major contributions and achievements, in each role - in each organization. Use this piece of information (at the relevant rounds and scopes) all through the process till not you find success in your job hunting.

  4. Don't lack on your research. Interview nightmares won't scare you as much if you have done all your homework and are fully prepared.

The process may be exhausting but if you walk that extra mile you could easily reach at the top of it.

Right overall attitude and a resume with the right ingredients in the right proportions act more favorably for you.

Create a resume that is informative but most importantly is concise. Try and magnify your achievements without going overboard.
