How
to write quality articles or blogs
As soon as you publish an article or a blog online, on C# Corner for
example, it's not your property anymore. Yes that is true. You don't own it
anymore. It becomes a public property. It becomes Web's property. Even though,
you are the rightful owner of this content (article, blog, forum or image), but
trust me. It's not yours anymore. Period! Various search engines and other companies
can copy your entire content and store it in their databases.
But good thing is your name as an author will always be attached to it.
That's what your goal is anyway. Now here comes the good part. You do not represent
that article or blog but actually that article or blog represents you.
It becomes an art and at that point, you my friend become an artist.
So you may want to be careful about what you write online. You may want
to choose your words very carefully before it goes live online. Think of it as your public statement that you are about to make to
half of the population of the world.
That said, don't let this worry you. Just be honest to yourself. Just be
yourself. Do not copy somebody else.
Here are some tips that may help you along the way to build your own
personal brand.
Proper
Title
The title of your
article is the biggest marketing of your work. All search engines look for a
matching title before than anything else. You want to make sure your title
makes sense in regard to the contents. A title should also not be too short or
too long. For example, if I am writing on how to create a mobile application using
C# language, my title can be, "Build Mobile Applications using C#". It does not
have to be "C# Mobile" or "How to Build a Mobile Application using C# Language
in Visual Studio 2010". Read more: Authoring

Selecting
a Proper Category
Each article belongs
to a category. If you do not post your article in a proper category, you may be
missing the boat. Read more: Authoring
Tip #1: Selecting an Appropriate Category
Original
Content
The most important aspect
of your article is the content quality and originality. When you write, do
not copy ideas or contents from other authors. It should be your original
content.
Personal
Flavor
Not only you want to
have your original contents but also add your personal flavor to it. Do not
write in style what everybody else is writing. Write what you think fits you
well and represent you. Try to add your personal touch to it.
Keywords
Keywords are another
aspect of search engine optimization. All search engines look for keywords to
match the user searches. However, you do not want to put too many keywords in
your article. I have seen people putting 20 keywords in an article. I would
recommend having maximum 5 keywords in your article.
Quality
You also need to make
sure when you write, have a good quality contents with property grammar and
spell checked. Also do not need to write complex grammar. You also don't have
to be a professional writer. These are technical articles, not an English composition
contest. Keep it simple. As I said before, you want to be yourself.
Content
Size
When you publish an
article or a blog, it represents you. It represents your expertise on a topic.
It represents your style. And above all, it creates your brand as an author. If
people like it, they will follow you. So you do not what to publish something that
may disappoint your readers. You want to make sure if somebody comes to your
article or blog, they get enough out of it. You do not want to publish 10 lines
where your readers may be disappointed. If your readers do not like it, they
may not come back again to your article or blog.
