Twitter is considered as a very cool tool to maintain good relationship with clients. Once you have decent number of followers, now you need to engage them else they can lose interest, so you need to be consistent and focused in your work related areas. Twitter is a platform that can be used to help brand your work, business, and market your particular expertise. For example if you are a software developer, then, keep your tweets focused on software development.

Always keep one thing in mind that you should always Tweet information, not advice because, not everyone who sees your tweet will read your bio page and come to know about your work. So it’s better to post information with a link about the information you want to share.

 A special attention should be paid on your Bio.


To make it more attractive for professionals, twitter redesigned its profile pages. New users will get it right away, while it will be rolled out for existing ones. Now the new profile or bio page lets you feature your best tweets (most retweets and responses). It also lets you highlight your previous tweet that shows your best work.

Twitter’s basic practices:

  • Interesting tweets should be retweeted.
  • Some of the good followers should be followed back as things can be learned from one another.
  • Engagement with followers and fellow tweeters can be made through retweets and replies.
  • Put hashtags (#) before a keyword, it will help your tweet to appear on the hashtag’s page, giving you more visibility. 
  • According to Mashable, brand engagement is 17% higher on weekends. So, if you’re focusing on building your brand, consistently tweet on weekends.
  • Try to keep your tweets under 140 characters so your followers can retweet (RT) with their own comments.
  • Following Professional Groups on Twitter related to own field is also a good practice to do.
