Pls good people i need help on xampp server

i have mysql workbench install with mysql server instance too and i have also install xampp server but i get this error whenever i start the xampp server Attempting to start MySQL service...
so i change the port number for the mysql server instance MySQL Server 5.1 but still mysql is not starting.

I mean i have changed the port number of the MySQL Server 5.1 instance from 3306 to 3308 while the mysql in xampp server is unchange which means it is still using the default port which is 3306 and yet mysql in xampp server is not starting out too. all i get when i start it is Attempting to start MySQL service... thank man i hope this can help you understand me more now.

Hi Where are you changed the port number? Please confirm are you installed xampp server after that not start mysql? Or installed mysql sepate? Please elaborate ur question... Thanks
