Hello from Volt Computer Services over here in Redmond, Washington. Would you like to work in Redmond, Washington on a 1 year contract position working with the .NET Framework? Washington state is a beautiful place to be! If you have a serious desire to work with C# and .NET technologies, spend a few minutes reading the rest of this post: Volt Computer Services has a 12 month contract position open for a Software Design Engineer - Level 2. This position is similar to a Business Contact Manager where the end user can easily access and manage from within the Outlook application business accounts and business contacts while simultaneously allowing for tracking of interactions with clients. The backend database can later be used to generate reports from that data, similar to a contact management application. The plug-in makes direct ADO.NET calls to the Database Engine built into the premier versions of Office. There is a lot of COM inter-op going on between the Outlook object model and the plugin. This is where the requirement for COM experience comes in. The team wrote their own MAPI provider to interface between the Office Object model and the add in tool. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS - MUST HAVE SKILLS: Very strong C++ development skills with experience in UI development, WinForms (Windows Forms), C#, .NET framework, ADO.NET and MSDE. Required skills include: Strong coding skills. This is a small and dedicated team and there isn’t enough bandwidth to monitor the CSG’s progress. C# is required – The candidate will be implementing UI code in a managed environment using C#. They’ll be using classes from the .NET framework to create the UI using WinForms. (The candidate should have previous WinForm development experience.) A good understanding of WinForms UI programming. Not web related programming, but instead it’ll be client side WinForms UI development in C#. Database experience is necessary and a candidate with experience connecting to a SQL server using the .NET framework - ADO.NET classes will be a huge qualifier. The product leverages the Microsoft Database Engine (MSDE) built into Office 2000 and Office XP Premium Editions, as well as Visio 2000 and Microsoft Application Center 2000. Ability to write and discuss secure code. The MSDE database will be accessed by multiple clients. What are the security implications of my code, performance implications, etc. Bonus Skills: Experience writing add-ins/plugins on top of the Outlook framework. If candidate has Outlook Object Model and MAPI development experience, this is awesome! XML/XSLT Master’s Degree in CS a plus. PLEASE NOTE: Call in about this position at 800-253-9605 and inform the Receptionist that you would like to be in contact with the Recruiter responsible for this posting.
