Connect Serial Port to ASP.NET Application

Question

Hi,
In our application we used weight bridge to get weight of Material. Now we need to connect weighing machine on my client machine and need to read data via web application . We achieve this using windows application. Is it possible to read serial port from Web Application

Any help appreciated.

If the device were connected to the server, and you have already said that it is not, then I think there would be security issues at least. Due to security, it is unlikely you could use a client-side language such as JavaScript or Java to do it entirely inside the browser. You need to develop an application of some type that could be downlaoded and installed by the user then the server could communicate with that. I am not sure of the details; sorry.

if the device is connceted to server then serial port works fine in web application ... but u have said that device should be connected at client side. then i think it is not possible...
