Create a program that runs from a jump drive.

Question

I'm trying to make a simple DesktopTimer program in windows form app for work. Due to admin privledges i cannot install anything. Could someone direct me in the right direction for creating a program that will run from a jump drive.

I've noticed certain apps can install and certain apps cannot be installed on my pc, also. Is there a workaround, something else i can do to get my desktop timer to install?

The framework is 2.0. Please clarify what you mean by x copy the file to the system and it should run.  Is there a way to compile a program made in c# so that it doesn't run a setup it just runs as is when it's unzipped. (ie eclipse vypress chat) That is the best solution i have to bypass admin. Or just create the thing in java with eclipse i guess. But still if there is a way of creating a program that does not require an install that would be great!

Assuming that the framework is installed on your machine you should be able to run an executable from your jump drive (for a .NET application). You can determine which version of the framework is installed on the machine by going to C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework. Once there you will see folders named by the framework version number (e.g. v1.0.375 v1.1.4322 v2.0.50727 v3.0 v3.5). Provided the application mates up to the installed version(s) of the framework you should be able to x copy the file to system and run it there. Of course if the application ends up doing something that violates the security policy of the machine then you'd still have a problem but for a timer application I should think you'd be alright.
