creating an ActiveX control

Question

Im relatively new to VB but I have a project that requires creating my own ActiveX controls. I am developing in a VB.NET environment and am having alot of trouble finding literature regarding this topic. I am able to find alot of info about creating controls in VB6 but VB.NET is a different story. Any links or info would be greatly appreciated.

You can't create ActiveX controls in the .Net framework. Microsoft is apparently abandoning ActiveX and using what's called a Common Runtime Language (CLR). The .Net framework and VB.NET can use ActiveX (for legacy purposes). It does it by creating a wrapper that has a bit of an overhead. The use of ActiveX in VB.NET is therefore not recommended. If you have to create an ActiveX control you'll have to get a copy of VB6.
