details view fields

Question

hi to all,

i have taken details view n fields can be viewed and updated....

when i click on Edit it allow to enter fields..

bt when i insert any symbols in textbox on updatation time it shows symbols bt after update then those symbols are converted to "?"

this way if i insert "(any symbol) helo" then after updating it shows "? helo"

Hi Diya You need to Use nvarchar data type in database Column where you are Storing Symbol + Text Data..for displaying them.. I included Sample Project ..Just Take a Look :) Happy Coding :) ans please check "do you like this answer" check box :)

Use some other control other than text box many are freely available like AJAX Tool kit EDITOR control instead of textBox ..

one more question.. its not recognizing new line.. i mean though i press enter n write text in new line bt it just ignore it n show text as it is

If you want to add Symbols then i suggest you to use text editor then text box.

hi.. i want that textbox should display symbol.. i have taken details view n it allow editing: see the edit mode: now when i click on update... i want that it should display symbols...

You will need to provide more information to get help. I am not an expert with SQL Server, but the problem is likely the codepage, or something such as that. SQL Server is probably not set up for Unicode for the database or table or the field. If Unicode is not used then we must use a codepage that supports the characters we need. If Unicode is used then codepages do not apply.
