due date

Question

hi all i am trying to find code that will help me recieve a warning when it is 2 or 3 or even 4 days to my due date of next purchase. in my data base i have got a column called date of next purchase and this is the date i want to use so that i can select a product that is due 2 or 3 or 5 days before the due date in the data base. i can select a product that is due by selecting all products where due date like datetime.now but i need to recieve the warning starting 2 days to the due date. i hope i have not confused you in any way. thanks.

On the first point you should be able to apply that format to the 'cost' column as follows: this.dataGridView1.Columns[cost].DefaultCellStyle.Format = n0; On the second point unless anybody's got a better idea I'd run a : 'select count(*) from expenseac where (etc)' preliminary query from the form where you launch the Farmviewexpenseac form. You can then use the following line to get the number of records (if any) which satisfy the criteria: int count = (int) cmd.ExecuteScalar(); You only then need to launch the form if 'count' is greater than zero.

Hi Vulpes thankS for your help. I used the code you recommended and it has worked perfectly. I went further to expand the code so that I can be able to capture all that will be due in the next five days. Prabhu's suggestion is good; also Vuples has a useful addition. I would like to also add that you could use the task scheduler to schedule a program to execute daily or every weekday or whatever. Then the program could do all the rest when it executes. It could retrieve all products that are due in a specified number of days as Vulpes suggests. It is likely you will think of other things for it to do. So if you have the program scheduled to run every day then you simply need to add improvements to it.

Instead of selecting products where the due date is DateTime.Today select them where the due date is DateTime.ToDay.AddDays(2).
