get values of non-display columns of actual data row

Question

Hi I am beginner in C# and I can't find solution of this: I have data table which is bind to ComboBox DataSet ds; . . cmbXXX.DataSource = ds.Tables[TableName]; cmbXXX.DisplayMember = Column1; I'd like to get the value of other column (for example Column2) after the selected item in the ComboBox is changed. I can find it only this way ... foreach (DataRow dr in ds.Tables[...].Rows) { if (dr[Column1].ToString() == cmbXXX.Text) // the code for found row // use row value of dr[Column2_name] } is ther more effective way ? Thanx

If you need only one more value then use ComboBox.ValueMember property. Set it the same way you set DisplayMember. This property is also usefull if you need to find other values in the DataTable. Just set ValueMember to unique key in the underlyind DataTable. Then use DataTable.Select() method to find DataRow for this key. Something like this (I did not debug it): cmbXXX.DataSource = ds.Tables[TableName]; cmbXXX.DisplayMember = Column1; cmbXXX.ValueMember = KeyColumn; to find the data for selected item string sKey = cmbXXX.SelectedValue.ToString(); DataRow[] drResults = ds.Tables[TableName].Select(KeyColumn =  + sKey); 'Find value for any column: strins sColumn2Value = drResults[0][Column2Name].ToString(); strins sColumn3Value = drResults[0][Column3Name].ToString(); Note: If your ValueMember is not unique key then you can get more then 1 row in the drResults.
