How do I learn to make more advanced graphic GUI like "real" programs :)

Hi all

I was wondering how it is possible to make a diffenert GUI design like you see many professional programs have. I want to learn how to design my GUI instead of the normal one Visual Studio gives me. Often antivirus program have a nice and different design but how is it made?
