If you are looking for an open source OCR engine (OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition) one good engine is Tesseract. I used leadtools sdk because their powerful OCR engine is backed by a more powerful image processing features to enhance OCR results. you can use tesseract ocr engine it's the best open source ocr library i used. and before you starting you can go to this free online ocr(http://www.online-code.net/ocr.html) using tesseract ocr 3.02 to have a test it's with high accuracy and speed.
