http 401 access denied

Question

Hi to all i'm developing a simple web services with only a web method. Server side all Ok. Client side  i've made a client console application. When i call my web method  i've the error message during the invoke of my method. Where can be the problem ? Maybe on iis secury ? Hi to all thank you in advanced. Giorgio

Hi  It is very common error I already faced at Lot of Times. The only possible for this error is The current Win-Authentication is not allow you to access the Web Service. I hope you are using the .NET 2003. So by default it use the SOAP protocol. But your client machine(or Current Machine) SOAP port is restricted by the administrator. When you run the application from the Browser it will work fine. If you use the any .NET Client Programm it will throw this kind of error. Finally the Soultion 1. Ask your administrator to Open / Grant Access to SOAP Protocol. or 2. Change the Machine Config file WebSercices settings --> --> Here Comment the SOAP and Use HTTPPost/Get or 3. If you dot want to ask with Admin. If you dot want to take risk to change the Machine Config Just open the IIS Server Manager. Open the Property of Current Web Service's Virtual Directory. Click the Directory Security Tab. Click the Anonymous Access and Authentication Control's Edit BUtton Uncheck the Check box -> Integrated Windows Authentication Finally check the Current Web Service's Web.Config file . Now run the Application.It should Work.
