In Which type of project ASP.NET MVC is better?

Question

My question is that when we can create website using wordpress and other CMS with php in very less time and resource then why should use ASp.NEt MVC. I mean in which type of project i should use Asp.NEt MVC instead of other programming languages(php) and CMS. I mean when should i prefer Asp.Net MVC and When should i prefer php for a website

@Vincent: Yes, the problem has been here since a while and I am not sure why admins didn't give an eye to this one. Until then, I believe the solution is to use the text-only URLs. :-) I will also submit this as an idea/suggestion. @Afzaal - This is crazy. Actually my first attempt was to use the link directly but It' doesn't allow me to post a reply. I mean It will just reload the page and my reply will not be shown. I thought the hyperlinks tool works because it allows me to post a reply. It's weird. I'm using Chrome by the way. Tested it on IE too but to no avail.

@Vincent: There is a problem with the hyperlinks in the forums tab. Just the way your links are text-only, the links would be missed for future readers. I suggest you use URLs instead of the text as a hyperlink. That would make sure that user can still copy and paste the URL in their browser to access the content. :-)

ASP.NET Web Pages is likely similar to other scripting language such as PHP and classic ASP, so they can easily adjust. Thanks @Afzaal for your reply . I have another issue that i am working with friends on free lancer. All my friends are from php background and i am from .net. So they always think to develop a website on php when i said that "this website we can develop using asp.net then they refused my idea and moved to php because they think that using php we can develop a website in very short time and lost cost compare to asp.net" Many time i also think that "Ya they are right" Now my problem is that how to convinced my friend for asp.net" . Which type of project we can built very very well using asp.net mvc compare to php? Please guide me.

@Vignesh: Wordpress or other websites are also dynamic. They can also manage the databases and can do what simple websites do.

Hi, When You application with database or dynamic website you can use asp.net MVC. If you need only static website you can use any other like you mentioned above word press and any other.

First of all, you should consider using ASP.NET (itself) when you have to build the web application to be hosted on IIS server on Windows Server environment. PHP is preferred on Apache server on Linux environment. Secondly, ASP.NET is a web application development framework built on top of .NET framework. If you want to have the power and extensibility of .NET framework, then go for ASP.NET instead of PHP. There are frameworks in PHP too, but in ASP.NET most of the stuff comes right out of the box. Long story short: Prefer ASP.NET in case of a Windows Server and .NET environment, prefer PHP in case of Linux servers and Apache servers.
