Scope of Learning Java and C#

Question

Sir, I likes to know from you the scope of learning Java and C# as far as a software Developer is concerned.

Among these subjects, which is prominent and using widely?

what will be the benefit when one master these subject?

Is C# or Java is prominent now?

I don't know about world aspect but In India, C# is more popular than Java. More jobs in .Net technology as compare to Java. Cheers.

They're both useful general purpose languages to learn and similar in many ways though I'd say that C# has the edge in modern features at the present time. Runtime performance is also similar though not as good as C/C++. However, the latter are far harder to use. C# is predominantly used in Windows programming though the Mono project and Xamarin have extended that to various other operating systems including Linux, OS X, Android and iOS. Java is used everywhere and is the principal programming language for Android. If the Tiobe index is to be believed, Java is more than twice as popular as C# overall: http://www.tiobe.com/index.php/content/paperinfo/tpci/index.html
