What is 80/20 rule in software tesing

Hi all,

 

I have a basic idea about what is 80/20 rule. But how can we apply it to  software testing?

 

80% results come from 20 % of couses. when we are in software requirement analysis phase we found an defect. Then how can we apply this rule into that?
