C# and VB. NET are two different languages to do the same - Write Windows and Web applications using Microsoft .NET Framework. There are more languages to write .NET application including VC++ .NET and JSCript.NET.

If you are from C++ background, you will find C# a familiar language and if you are from Visual Basic background, you will find VB.NET more familiar.

If you are a beginner and do not know any language, you may want to start with C# b/c it is getting most of the attention.
