    Default Port No is: 1433

The Well Known Ports are those from 0 through 1023.
The Registered Ports are those from 1024 through 49151.
The Dynamic and/or Private Ports are those from 49152 through 65535.
So admin can configure other port numbers also as per their security requirements.

the TCP/IP port numbers that Microsoft SQL Server requires to communicate over a firewall. The default SQL Server port is 1433, and client ports are assigned a random value between 1024 and 5000.
