WPF  stands for windows presentation foundation, it is the new generation that will replace the windows applications in the future, the new concept that the WPF is the separation between the design where XAML or avalon  is used to build interfaces and the code C# that precises the behaviour of the application. it isn't used within the asp context. The silverlight is the little brother of the WPF it is used within ASP context
