Android Wear 2.0 Preview Now Brings Enhanced iOS Support

Google has already delayed the launch of its Android Wear 2.0 once, however it seems that now the operating system might actually be ready for a launch in early February. The company has currently released the fifth and final developer preview of the updated platform, adding iOS compatibility along with some bug fixes to the version. Apps which have been compiled with this particular preview edition, can now be easily submitted for publication in the Google Play Store, where they will be made available later for download by users onto their wearables.

Along with the standalone apps, i.e. apps which can work on the smartwatch without requiring a companion phone – the new Android Wear will also have  better iOS support, improved notifications and messaging interfaces, along with auto-recognition of your activity. This means that you will now be able to start running, walking, or biking and your watch will be able to launch a relevant app once it goes on to detect what you are doing.

Google, in its blog post, states,

“Today, we are releasing the fifth and final developer preview for Android Wear 2.0. In this release, we have added iOS support and included a number of bug fixes and enhancements. Apps compiled with this preview are now ready for final submission to the Google Play Store, so it's time to publish your apps. As Android Wear 2.0 approaches its final release in early February, we would like to thank you for your continued feedback during the developer preview program.”
