In SharePoint online, we don’t have any features to restrict the download option to the video file. Before I started Office 365 videos, I have worked on asset library videos and I have uploaded video. I have also set read only permission to the other users. Again, the file got downloaded for read only users.
Afterwards, I disabled the right click option but still I was getting download option inside media player. Thus, a final discussion with the Microsoft support team suggested that I use Office 365 videos instead of asset library in SharePoint. It’s a really good one to secure and manage our video portal in SharePoint Online. Please go through the steps, mentioned below, for uploading the video files inside Office 365 videos.
Step 1
Go to the admins panel inside Office 365 and click Video.
Step 2
Click on channels and create a new channel.
Step 3
Create new channel in right side of the ribbon.
Step 4
Once you click on new channel, it’s shown as follows.
Step 5
Once you click on channel, you will get an option to upload the video file.
Step 6
Here, you will get an option to manage your video, once you click on Video Settings.
Step 7
Here, you can set the owner of the channel, editor, viewer and who is able to download the video file.
Step 8
You can also delete the videos and restore your file again through the recycle bin option.
