Sharepoint Online Or On-Premises Time Zone & Regional Settings

This article is about SharePoint online or on-premises Time Zone. As we know, “A time zone is a region of the globe that observes a uniform standard time for legal, commercial, and social purposes. Time zones tend to follow the boundaries of countries and their subdivisions because it is convenient for areas in close commercial or other communication to keep the same time.” from Google.

There are two types of SharePoint online or on-premises Time Zone.

  • Regional setting
This controls time zone for the site. This is the default time zone which all users inherit. This setting is controlled by the Administrator.

  • Personal setting
It is something like each user has control on and over the control to override Administrative default settings.

Let me describe the Regional settings in details.

This zone is set separately for each site and controlled by the Administrator only. We can change this site time zone later also, on deployment and configuration. Please make sure that you should have administrator rights to do the same.

To change the Regional setting of the site, we need to follow the below steps.
