A Program That Reads The Amount of words In a Text File

Hi Please i'm a noob when it comes to the programming ish but i need the algorithm for a program that could read the amount of words in a text file Thank you

Someone else asked a similar question recently and here's the solution I gave then which uses a regular expression.
