about authentication

Now i am in asp.net 2005.I dont know how to use authentication.So please explain me detaily about authentication...

There are following authenticaions with ASP.Net 2.0 1) Forms : login forms mostly used for internet based application 2) Windows : Intranet application many organisation follow this. 3) Passport : This is somewhat marketing strtegies form micosoft :) so accordingly chose ur authentication module.......... No matters ur in ASP.Net 2.0 i suggest u don't go for any Role based security. even for forms authetication go for ur own strategies as per as concerns authenticaions is always useful but yet non functional activity.
