About Method And Function

Question

I am trying to Understand this but still I am not getting. What is difference between Function and Method... With Example Please if you have some idea Please tell me.?

Hi Functions Functions have independent existence means they can be defined outside of the class. Ex:- main() function in C C++ Language Functions are defined in structured languages like PascalC and object based language like javaScript Functions are called independently. Functions are self describing unit of code. Methods Methods do not have independent existence they are always defined with in class. Ex:- main() method in C# Language that is defined with in a class Methods are defined in object oriented languages like C# Java Methods are called using instance or object. Well it is actually the same thing. When you say function or method basically you are referring to same block (of code which actually is doing something). if you are specific to Method (term mostly used in C# Dev) that is something may or may not return the value. Function (term mostly used in VB.NET Dev) that may or may not return value. Please mark it as an answer if it addresses the issue.

I never thought that both are same and they have anything to do with language in which they are used. I always thought that while technically method and function is same (as in a piece of code which performs a specific task) they have a very fundamental distinction. A method never returns a value and function always returns a value. I have failed to understand that Tapan what has mentioned may or may not return a value in case of both.
