ALT + 0160

Question

Hello.
Probably you know that ALT + 0160 in windows disappears folder name.
I have some questions about it.

1. Is it a bug for windows or other programs ?
2. What's difference about ALT codes (or even CTRL codes) and regular characters ?
3. String.Trim() method Knows it as a whitespace?

Entering characters using the Alt key is a way to enter any character with a value of 1-255. The character that you see depends on the font. The use of the Alt key in that manner originated in the original IBM PC before Unicode existed so I doubt it is possible to enter any character with a value above 255.

Lolz... This is a myth from the old Windows 98 :D You can add Alt + 255 Once you rename a folder like this from a command line in Windows 98 you cannot browse to it using Windows Explorer. This was due to that ASCII was the base of Windows Explorer where as the command lines supported Unicode. The characters that you get by holding ALT and typing down a number are regular Unicode characters. And yes these are identified as White Space now. (About the white space question you could have found that out by writing a small console program. I think you are too lazy for that yahh ? lol) Regards
