Alternative of c# window services

Question

Hello all I am having a window service that read an email replies. But sometimes the window service stops particularly and due to this i am loosing some of my important replies. So at this stage i am not able to rely on my window service and i have to check my emails from email app also. So is there any alternative which can work same as window services which will work efficiently?

Try to use SQL jobs if you have to use SQL for this. This may helped you or you try to optimize your code on this condition when your exe have shut down. then restart your exe to re-pull data from mail server.

Hi Aakash If your data is residing in SQL you can plan for SQL Job which would perform same activity and also there would be performance increase. If your application is in SharePoint you can plan for SharePoint timer service or event handler. Likewise every application software might have an event handler or database would have timer job. Please let us know your application and backend tools upon which we can suggest you the right approach.

No dear my data are not in SQL the service reads the email from gmail and make entries of that emails to SQL. I planned to use Quartz.
