Ambiguous column name 'Associate_ID'.

Question

Query as follows select Associate_ID as assidIsActivevalue from [CentralRepository].[dbo].[vw_CentralRepository_Associate_Details] AP inner join [CentralRepository].[dbo].[vw_CentralRepository_Contacts] CAD ON CAD.[Associate_ID]=AP.[Associate_ID] When i run the above query shows error as follows Ambiguous column name 'Associate_ID'. what is the problem in my above query. please help me.

Hi In the Select Statement you didn't mention the table of 'Associate_ID' column SoAmbiguous column name 'Associate_ID'.Error Occur Because in the Both Views Used here Contain 'Associate_ID'.so it confuse the which values it shows follow guidelines of ali tuncer in your select statement you will need to use CAD or AP select CAD.[ Associate_ID] as assidIsActivevalue OR select AP .[ Associate_ID] as assidIsActivevalue

Hi error is coming because Associate_ID column present in both table and you did not specify in your select query from which table you want to Associate_ID  so to resolve this error you have to specify the table name before column name like this select AP .Associate_ID as assidIsActivevalue from [CentralRepository].[dbo].[vw_CentralRepository_Associate_Details] AP inner join [CentralRepository].[dbo].[vw_CentralRepository_Contacts] CAD ON CAD.[Associate_ID]=AP.[Associate_ID] or select CAD .Associate_ID as assidIsActivevalue from [CentralRepository].[dbo].[vw_CentralRepository_Associate_Details] AP inner join [CentralRepository].[dbo].[vw_CentralRepository_Contacts] CAD ON CAD.[Associate_ID]=AP.[Associate_ID]

in your select statement you will need to use CAD or AP select CAD.[ Associate_ID] as assidIsActivevalue OR select AP .[ Associate_ID] as assidIsActivevalue
