can someone explain in the simplest way possible how to do very, very simple api in .net? and please when explaining try to be simple as im a newb to .net

You could be talking about the API for QuickBooks [an accounting program], DirectX [graphics], EBay [we should all know that one], Windows [there are many versions!], or a virtually limitless number of other ones. Even within a given API there are dozens or even hundreds of different functions that can be called, each with their own pre-requisites.
