ARRAY INSERTION

Question

We have an array in which we have some elements we wish that user insert a value at a specified position in the array.... how is this done

Here's how you can insert an element on a one off basis into an array: using System; class Program { static void Main() { string[] sa = {a b c e f}; // suppose you want to insert d at index 3 int index = 3; string insertion = d; Array.Resize(ref sa sa.Length + 1); // increase size by 1 // move elements from 'index' onwards 1 element to right for(int i = sa.Length - 1; i >= index + 1; i--) { sa[i] = sa[i - 1]; } // insert new element sa[index] = insertion; // check it worked foreach(string s in sa) Console.Write({0}  s); Console.ReadKey(); } } The output is: a b c d e f As the others have said if you intend to do a lot of insertions you're best using a List  LinkedList or ArrayList instead of an array.

hey vipin  you can use arraylist Indices are zero based. So the first item is at index 0 and the tenth item at index 9 ArrayList.Insert int posNum ; if (! int . TryParse ( txtPosition . Text  out posNum )) { // show message return ; } else if ( posNum 0 || posNum > ActorArrayList . Count ) { // show message return ; } ActorArrayList . Insert ( posNum  actName ); } If you want to add the object at the end anyway you just have to use Add : ActorArrayList . Add ( actName ); h ope it helps
