Hi Emmy In simple wordswe can say A derived type is formed by using one or more basic types in combination. so what Array is? its set of element of some basic datatypeit can be Integercharacter....etc. sothats the reason array is derived type. Thanks Pravin.

Hi Emmy Derived data types are the data types which are derived from the fundamental data types. It is further divided into 2 categories: 1. Built-In Derived Data Type.Like Arrays 2. User Defined Derived Data Type. Like Class Arrays: array is derived type in the sense it can be used as a type in programming Language but fundamentally an array is a set or a collection of variables of same type. so its not elementary but derived from elementary types.
