Hi. i want below maintain output with the help of Array. what is the program for that?? i have use for loop but i am not getting such output please help me * *** ***** ******* ***** *** *

Yes, char is initialized to 0. So I am sure there is a 1-line code for initializing the char items to spaces if it was important.

Sam, A char[] is in fact initialized to null chars '\0' but it doesn't matter because Console.WriteLine() writes them to the console as though they were spaces :) Frogleg, LOL ;)

This is not the simplest, but I think it is an alternative that satisfies the requirements. I assume that a char is initialized to a space character. char[] Stars = new char[7]; Stars[3] = '*'; for (int i = 0; i { Console.WriteLine(Stars); Stars[2 - i] = '*'; Stars[4 + i] = '*'; } for (int i = 2; i >= 0; --i) { Console.WriteLine(Stars); Stars[2 - i] = ' '; Stars[4 + i] = ' '; } Console.WriteLine(Stars);

I've just looked at the HTML for the page and the problem is that your browser (IE perhaps?) is not inserting non-breaking spaces and so multiple spaces are being compressed to a single one when the page is rendered. Mine on the other hand (Google Chrome) is inserting non-breaking spaces for the first two items and so no compression takes place.

Strange re static string[] ast = new string[4] { " *", " ***", " *****", "*******" }; as it is Ok in the ide and I just pasted it fron there Anyway Anil has two ways of doing it now

I've used it because both 'i' and 'j' can be negative but we need to provide symmetry whether they're positive or negative. If you remove the Math.Abs, you'll find that it doesn't work correctly.

I suspect that Frogleg's browser may be condensing multiple spaces into a single space as his first line should, of course, be: static string[] ast = new string[4] { " *", " ***", " *****", "*******" }; Although it's not what the OP asked for, there's also an easy way to do this without using an array: class Program { static void Main() { for(int i = -3; i { for(int j = -3; j Console.WriteLine(); } } }
