What is the use of .ascx file? please give an example?

.ascx it the extension of user defined control in asp.net...... you can create your own asp.net like control for that you have to add a new item ... and then select WebUserControl. it'll add a file with extension .ascx and now you can code it just like other aspx page but having some limitations..... and to run you need to add it on aspx then run and see how your control works.....
