ASP.NET VS PHP FOR CARREER

Question

I live in Bangladesh...Studying with CSE in a university..I am very much confused about my future career.. I want to choose any of them(asp.net or php)..which one is better for job market??
help me taking decision please...

I would disregard the Afzaal statements it is obvious he prefers the .NET environment so he is advising based on his personal preferences. But he lacks any knowledge of PHP framework because it also has a large community (I mean it was literally build by the community for the community). Also it has quite some extensions available to you and also the syntax is similar to any other script language. Now to get back to your question the job markets depend on the location so unfortunately I cannot say what the situation in Bangladesh is. However in last 3 years I moved a lot and I would say that in general there are more PHP job positions then ASP.NET but I would also say that most of those PHP positions offered less salary then the equivalent ASP.NET position. But I would strongly discourage you from making a choose based on the job market itself and here is why. If you are indeed serious about making a web development your career then eventually you will end up working with different back end languages and frameworks. That is common and a good thing too. You need to have a brother experience so that you can have a better perception on how to solve or build something why to choose this over that etc. So the first language is just your starting point and because of it I wouldn't worry to much that you will make a wrong choose. Honestly I would suggest you to choose whatever you prefer at this moment. Note that it will take time and patience to master the skills necessary for a web development and a programming language is just one of the skills. You should focus more on learning things like project's life cycle source control unit testing best practices ... These skills are transferable or better said apply everywhere so you should never think that learning some language was a waist of your time if you picked up that language's practices. At time you will be able to actually see the advantages and disadvantages between different languages. Also to add just as an FYI an interesting approach for learning is by solving some online programming tests on TestDome  for example you can try out your luck with any of the following: - programming tests for HTML CSS and JS languages - programming tests for C# language - programming tests for PHP language

Follow your choice. That's all! There is NO better on your question! Since this forum is heavily populated by ASP.Net developers so you may get the answer as: ASP.Net. If you ask your question in a PHP forum then you will get answer PHP. So i suggest follow your interest and familiarity with that technology! Both technologies are versatile one also both have wonderful job market too. Don't worry about that instead try to be master on it!

I would always suggest ASP.NET to you for your career. ASP.NET is full of extensions full of support and the community of developers that are expert in ASP.NET that are always ready to guide you through. I have never used PHP for production level programming but as far as I have used it the syntax gave me a heart-stroke always. Whereas ASP.NET is plain C# code or VB.NET code depending on your own choice. ASP.NET gives you a full ability to create website that you need and the power of .NET allows you to create your own modules in the background to run whenever and wherever you need them. I have been programming ASP.NET websites some of them used databases in the back-end some used other resources such as JSON files for storing the data. In ASP.NET you get a lot of support not from the developers only but from the server too (IIS) which always guides you through if you get an exception and the MSDN library for the reference of the ASP.NET is so great that you will never have to ask for support again! If you want to learn ASP.NET you can always get tons of articles blogs and other content to kick-start your ASP.NET web programming; you can also reply I have quite a good content for beginners like you to learn ASP.NET web development.
