Auto login by IP Address

Question

I want the functionality of auto login by mining the IP Address of user. If user IP address is listed in the database,then user is automatic login into the system without showing the login page, user can shown pages which are assigned to him/her. If user’s ip is not listed in database the user has to provide the username and password.

So how can we check these things in asp.net? (C#, vb)

Please help me to implement that

HI if you want to retrive ip address of pc that is verry easy using Request.ServerVariables[ REMOTE_ADDR ] it will givce u ip of visitor user. but as stated earlier you have to beware that request is not coming from netowrk where more then one pc has the same ip that is actually their network ip address (firewall ip).

I am sure you know your application better than I do so you may have already thought of this. However be careful with using IP. In a network environment sometimes you may get back one ip which is actually the gateway IP of a network not really the IP of the individual computer. So if you have multiple users logging in from that same network they may all have the same IP. In addition if your web app is one that will accept external users(internet) keep in mind that not everyone has a fixed IP and that their IP can change.
