If you're talking about an application with a user interface (e.g. WinForms or Console) you can't. You can only start these when a user logs in. To achieve this you can create a shortcut in the startup folder. In Win7 click the start-button  select all programs  find the startup folder  right click and choose and select open . An explorer window will open where you can create a shortcut (or drop an existing one). In Win7 the directory is C:\Users\ yourusername \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup The only applications that can be started when the computer (re)starts are services. I do not think that you would have asked this question if you were talking about a service ;-)
