Are you using SQL Express Edition? If so you cannot enable Server Agent. You can try some alternate method like using Windows Task.

Hi Aiswarjya You can Run your query automattically to update the date and status using SQL server Agent.. Its like Alarm IF you set the time for this agent  your mentioned query will run automattically..
