Data set is a sort of container of both datatables and datarelations Data base - Tables DataSet - DataTables and Data Relations But you ask me I can use a data set directly a Fill it with data adapter without having the necessitiy to use a data table I tell you In fact the dataadpter a table created by default in your dataset and not your data set

Basic difference between Dataset and Datatabel is that in datatable we can take only one table but into dataset we can store more than one table in both the mode i.e. : Connected and Disconnected. and dataset stores the tables in the form of XML.

dataset is a collection of datatables
