do { nb = streamreader.ReadBlock(buffer0buffer.Length); Console.WriteLine(buffer); }while(nb>0); Why does it print the last buffer twice? How can I make it so it won't pring the last buffer twice? Thx

The code I wrote above is actually from a working FTP application where it reads files to upload files. Try this instead of the streamreader class: FileStream stream = new FileStream(FileName FileMode.Open); BinaryReader reader =new BinaryReader(stream); reader.BaseStream.Position = 0; do { BytesRead = reader.Read(RcvBuff 0 RcvBuff.Length); if (BytesRead > 0) { Console.WriteLine (RcvBuff); } }while ( BytesRead > 0); //RcvBuf is a Byte array. I'm telling you this works!!

none of your suggestions works .... :( simon's works a little bit ... the last loop still print blank caracters .... There must be a way to fix this correctly ....

Hi The problem is the following: At the end if the reader reads less chars then the buffer size the rest of the buffer contains the old values. So you have to watch your buffer length or content. FileInfo fi = new FileInfo(@..\..\Test.txt); StreamReader sr = fi.OpenText(); char[] b = new char[8]; while (sr.ReadBlock(b 0 b.Length) > 0) { Console.Write(b); Array.Clear(b 0 b.Length); } Simon
