block navigation

I think as a best practice the user should be allowed to navigate to any other page and also for users security as if your page got infected with some virus and the user is stuck on this page. Also there are options for the user that he can close the browser or open new window. Well you can use onbeforeunload in javascript and have a confirmation box to prevent navigation but again i am not sure if that is 100%
