Browser's back button causes double entries on database.

Question

Hello I have a webform which inserts data on db (as new record) when submitted. My problem is when the user clicks on browser's back button he gets the form supplemented as it was before submission. If he clicks on submit button the form will be inserted as a new record on db. Any ideas how to prevent that? Thank you in advance.

Can you provide you complete code ? including Master Page (both aspx and cs) then child page both aspx and cs files. So that i can look into into and try to fix a bit faster.

Yes I have added the code into child page. I don't know why you are using the below 2 lines of code outside the Page_Load event which should be inside in Page_Load event like my previous post: ContentPlaceHolder cph = new ContentPlaceHolder(); // find the content page cph = (ContentPlaceHolder)Master.FindControl(ContentPlaceHolder1); Have you tried to debug the application? Also i hope that you wrote the the code inside the Child pages not in the Master page's codebehind. If possible provide your master page and child pages markup as well as code behing.

What you have tried is you want to clear the contents of the control while the page load itself. I guess you are using master pages If so your code will be like this: protected void Page_Load(object sender EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { ContentPlaceHolder cph = new ContentPlaceHolder(); // find the content page cph = (ContentPlaceHolder)Master.FindControl(ContentPlaceHolder1); clearInputs(cph.Controls); } } You must first find the content placeholder then you pass it to the clearInputs function. Hope this helps!

Have you used IsPostBack property in your page like below: protected void Page_Load(object sender EventArgs e) { if(Page.IsPostBack) { // Save the records in DB // Place your save logic here } else { // It will execute when the back button is clicked and when the page is loaded. } } Hope this helps!
