Buttion click without pageload event

Question

hello.

i am new to webservices and asp.net.

i want that my button webcontrol should call the webservice without calling the pageload event again and again on every click, is it possible??
how??

thanks to all for quick replies. one can acheive this by placing its button and the control to update in update panel . which is present in ajax extensions. regards
